What is FairDif?
Did you know that SimDif Pro is not the same price in all countries?
It's true!
SimDif adjusts the price of its upgrades based on the cost of living in each country.
In fact, Simple Different has been doing this for 10 years, and was one of the first companies on the web to offer localized (PPP) pricing for online software.
If you look right now in SimDif
You'll see both the standard price for upgrades and the special FairDif price.
In the same way as we provide a Starter version that is free for everyone, FairDif helps us offer fair and easy access to the Smart and Pro versions of SimDif.
Go to Site Settings, the gear icon in the top right corner, and look for Upgrades, to see for yourself.
The features of the Smart and Pro upgrades ARE the same for everyone.
But the price you pay is adjusted to be fair and affordable based on where you live. To make this possible we created FairDif, a Purchasing Power Parity index, to calculate fair prices for all, based on the cost of living in each country.
How was the FairDif index built?
Starting with reputable price indexes, including from Numbeo, the World Bank and the OECD, FairDif estimates a price that has the same value for people in different countries.
For example, one year of Pro is $109 in the US, approximately $126 in Singapore, $88 in Italy, and $34 in India. This does not mean that people in India are paying less than people in Italy or the US. It may be a different number, but the relative value is the same. Why have we decided to reduce the price of SimDif for most of the world?
Well, we may lose a little money, but ...
We get to share our work with more people, in more places, no matter their purchasing power or language.
