A smarter way to fix messy text formatting

NEW: A Smart Text Cleaning Tool

The new cleaning tool removes unwanted formatting from your text. It can fix alignment, sizing, and spacing problems, and clean up formatting accidentally carried over from another app, like Microsoft Word or Google Docs.
Look for a green recycle icon, in the top right corner of the text editor.

A long-standing issue in text editors

There is a well-known and very annoying problem that happens when you bring text from another document into a website builder text editor.

Copy a paragraph from Word, paste it into your page, and strange things can happen. The space between your lines grows. A word turns bold and refuses to change back. A sentence insists on looking like a title, no matter what you do.

It has been like this forever, more or less, for every website builder and every one of its users.

SimDif's old solution was a bit radical

Like most website builders, we do our best to control how text is pasted. And because we want to preserve some of your original formatting, we stop short of flattening everything down to "pure text".

When that was not enough, we gave you an all-powerful RED MAGIC WAND: A way to strip a block back to pure text and reformat the whole thing yourself. Effective, but you lost some of your work along with the problem.

Now there is a more gentle way to do this

We believe this tool is a good example of a simple and genuinely useful application of AI. We wrote the instructions for a quick, smart model, and gave it one job: remove only what is not supposed to be there, and leave your own formatting efforts intact.

You will find it where the red wand used to be: a green circle with a recycle icon, in the top right corner of the text editor.

After the cleaning, you decide. If you like the result, click Apply. If you prefer your text as it was, click Cancel.

One small tip:

Tapping "Cancel" returns the block to its last applied state. So if you have been editing for a while, apply your work first, then try the cleaner. That way you risk nothing.

This is a new tool, and as usual we tested it extensively before releasing it. But you are part of the team too. If you find a case where it does not work well for you, tell us at [email protected].
