Make Sure Your Website Contact Form Actually Works
Testing your contact page takes two minutes and it's worth every second
If your contact form isn't working, or if messages are landing in your spam folder, you could be missing real inquiries without knowing it.
Let's make sure that doesn't happen.
How to test your contact form
Visit your published site and go to your contact page. Use the form to send yourself a test message. Fill in the form as if you were a visitor. Use a real email address in the email field, so you can test replying to the message when it arrives. Then hit send.
The message should arrive at the email address you used when you created your SimDif account.
If it arrives in your inbox: you're all set.
If it doesn't arrive at all: check your spam folder. This is the most common issue, especially with Hotmail, MSN, Outlook, and sometimes Gmail.
If you find it in spam: look for a button that says "not spam," "don't block this sender," or "move to inbox." Then send yourself another test message to confirm it comes through.
Once you've told your email provider these messages are welcome, they should arrive normally. But it's still worth checking your spam folder from time to time, just in case.
If you manage your own email server:
