Kai Graphic Theme Creator
How SimDif helps any website owner build a coherent visual identity, without design expertise.
SimDif's Kai AI features have previously guided website owners through step-by-step site improvement and AI-assisted writing in the text editor. Kai Graphic Theme Creator is the latest addition: an AI-powered tool designed to help any website owner define and apply a coherent visual identity to their site in a matter of minutes.
SimDif operates on the principle that textual content is the primary foundation of an effective website. However, the visual presentation of a site, including color palette, typography, and graphic shapes, functions as a pre-linguistic communication layer: it conveys meaning and establishes context before the user reads any text.
Visual design signals the nature, tone, and professional positioning of a website to first-time visitors, allowing them to immediately assess whether the site is relevant to their needs or expectations. For this reason, graphic identity is not treated as a cosmetic or decorative element, but as a functional component of communication.
Design for your audience, not for yourself
When selecting a graphic theme, the relevant criterion is not the personal aesthetic preference of the site owner, but the visual expectations, cultural codes, and emotional responses of the intended audience.
The instinct to choose colors, fonts, and visual styles based on personal taste is common, but it conflicts with the communicative purpose of a website.
A website is designed to serve a specific audience: to inform, reassure, or persuade a defined group of visitors. Its visual identity should therefore be calibrated to that audience's expectations, not the owner's preferences. The appropriate graphic theme varies significantly depending on the professional context, sector, and target demographic.
• A website for a children's music teacher requires visual signals associated with warmth, playfulness, and accessibility.
• A website for a tax advisor requires visual signals associated with seriousness, reliability, and professional credibility.
Both site owners may have strong personal aesthetic preferences. Those preferences are not the relevant variable when selecting a theme aligned with their respective audiences. Effective visual identity design begins with an audience-first approach: identifying who the visitors are, what they expect to see, and what visual register will make them feel the site is relevant, trustworthy, and appropriate to their needs.
How Kai works to create a Graphic Theme
Theme creation has traditionally required the user to have knowledge of visual design principles, color theory, typography, and audience-specific aesthetic conventions. Kai removes this barrier entirely, replacing design decisions with contextual inspiration.
The workflow is structured in four sequential stages.
First, the user answers targeted questions covering three dimensions:
• Their target audience,
• Their professional activity or sector,
• Their geographic location.
These inputs allow Kai to apply audience-appropriate visual codes and culturally relevant aesthetic conventions.
Then, Kai will start to generate several distinct graphic directions for the user to evaluate and choose from.
In the second step, the user is invited to provide a visual reference to guide the color palette. The available options are:
• A header image,
• A logo,
• A specific color.
A guided refinement loop then follows: the user indicates a preference, Kai adjusts accordingly, and the cycle repeats for a second round of variations.
Third, Kai proposes 3 variations on the shape, radius, and thickness of the borders for tabs and pages. A distinctive SimDif feature that enhances visual clarity in navigation and gives each site a unique character.
Fourth, and finally, 3 font set variations are presented for the user to choose from. No design knowledge is required at any point. Each step offers a concise set of options tailored to the user's context, making the entire theme selection process straightforward and stress-free. The whole flow is designed to take approximately two minutes to complete.
Graphic themes generated by Kai are personalized creations, not generic templates.
Because Kai's generation is driven by user-specific inputs, two website owners operating in the same professional field will receive distinct, non-identical themes.
The result is specific to the user's context, not interchangeable with themes produced for other users.
Once generated, the theme is still fully editable.
In the Theme Editor available in Pro SimDif sites, all visual parameters, including color palette, typography, graphic shapes, header layout, and menu style, can be modified independently, giving the user complete control over the final visual identity of their site.
Themes can be saved and reused across multiple SimDif Pro websites belonging to the same user.
Adopting a new theme in SimDif is a non-destructive operation: switching graphic themes does not alter, delete, or displace any existing site content. The user can preview and compare a new theme against their current one without risk, and revert at any time with no content loss. This eliminates the risk barrier typically associated with visual redesign, making experimentation a low-cost decision.
Kai Graphic Theme Creator is included in the SimDif Pro plan at no additional cost. It is not a separate paid feature or add-on.
Users on the free Starter plan have access to the full Kai theme generation workflow: they can complete the entire process, preview the generated theme applied to their site, and save the result.
Publishing a Kai-generated theme on a live, publicly accessible website requires a SimDif Pro subscription.
This approach allows any SimDif user, regardless of their current subscription tier, to fully evaluate the theme creator before committing to an upgrade.
Privacy and data handling
User data submitted to Kai during the theme creation process, including professional activity, target audience description, geographic location, and any uploaded visual references, is stored exclusively within the user's SimDif account and is not shared, exposed, or made accessible outside of it.
When user inputs are transmitted to the underlying AI models that power Kai's theme generation, the associated website is systematically anonymized. The AI models receive the contextual information needed to generate a theme, but they do not receive identifying information linking that input to a specific site, user, or account.
This anonymization applies consistently to every Kai session, by design and by default, and reflects SimDif's broader data privacy policy across all features and processes.
