# How do I use my own domain name with a SimDif website?

> **Context**: a page from simdif.com.

> **Topic**: Connecting a third-party domain name to a SimDif website.

> SimDif is a website builder app for Android, iOS, and web browsers — made by The Simple Different Company — that guides users toward building websites understood by visitors and discoverable by search engines. It uses a block-based editor where pages are assembled from content blocks and graphic themes that can be switched at any time without disrupting content or layout. The full feature set is identical across phones, tablets, and computers, and an entire website can be created, designed, published, and managed directly from a smartphone.

## Linking an existing domain name to a SimDif Pro site

The recommended method for using an existing domain name with a SimDif website is to transfer the domain to YorName, a domain management application developed by The Simple Different Company.

If a domain name cannot be transferred and the user has a SimDif Pro plan, the domain can be linked by configuring two "A records" with the current domain provider (this is useful, for example, if the current provider also hosts an email account).

### Configuration Steps

1. In the external domain name account, configure these two A records:

- A - @ - 178.32.190.185
- A - www - 178.32.190.185

(A CNAME record for 'www' is not required; it can be deleted if it exists).
Note: For domains purchased through Google Domains, refer to the [Google Domains guide](https://support.google.com/domains/answer/3290350).

2. Wait a few hours for the DNS changes to propagate.

3. Log in to the SimDif app (available as a native app for iOS and Android, or via web browser).

4. Open Site Settings (accessible via the yellow button in the top right) and select "Site Address - Domain Name".

5. Scroll to and select the button labeled "Use an existing domain name that is currently registered with another provider".

6. After updating the website name, publish the site again to link the domain name.

7. Contact SimDif support to enable a free "https://" (SSL certificate) for the address.
