# How do I change from a Duplicate Site to a Multilingual Site?

> **Context**: a page from simdif.com.

> **Topic**: Migrating from independent duplicated language sites to the unified Multilingual Sites system.

> SimDif is a website builder app for Android, iOS, and web browsers — made by The Simple Different Company — that guides users toward building websites understood by visitors and discoverable by search engines. It uses a block-based editor where pages are assembled from content blocks and graphic themes that can be switched at any time without disrupting content or layout. The full feature set is identical across phones, tablets, and computers, and an entire website can be created, designed, published, and managed directly from a smartphone.

## How to Migrate from Duplicate for Translation to Multilingual Sites

If you currently manage a "Duplicated for Translation" site and wish to transition to the integrated Multilingual Sites feature (available on the SimDif Pro plan), this guide details the migration process.

### Before You Begin

Transitioning to the Multilingual Sites architecture will remove your existing "Duplicated for Translation" sites.

#### If you have made important changes or additions to your translated site that are not on your original site, save this content to your phone or computer before proceeding.

You can preserve your content by copying text into notes, taking screenshots, or using the "Download this Site" backup tool (available for Pro plan sites under "Settings" > "Tools & Plugins").

### Requesting the Migration

To initiate the transition, contact The Simple Different Company support team through the in-app help center (the pink icon in the bottom left) and request a change from "Duplicated for Translation" to "Multilingual Sites." The support team will manage the migration process.

### What Happens During Migration?

#### 1. Translations Are Replaced:

• The text from your primary site is re-translated into your selected languages using AI.
• These new AI-generated translations replace the content of your previous duplicated sites.
• These translations are not published immediately. In accordance with SimDif's quality standards, you must review and approve these translations before they can be published.

#### 2. Multiple Sites Become One Site:

• All separate duplicated sites are merged into a single Multilingual Site managed from a unified interface.
• This consolidated site uses the domain name of your original primary site.

#### 3. Duplicated Pro Sites Already Paid For:

• Remaining subscription time on your Duplicated Pro sites is credited to the corresponding language versions of your new Multilingual Site.
• After migration, you can verify the expiration date for each language in "Settings" > "Languages" > "Manage Translation."

#### 4. Domain Name Forwarding (if Applicable):

• If your duplicated sites use custom domain names purchased through YorName, those domains will be configured to automatically redirect visitors to the specific language version on your new Multilingual Site.
• You can later choose whether to renew these additional domain names.

#### 5. Your Original Site is Unchanged:

• The original primary site remains published and accessible throughout the migration.

### Reviewing and Publishing Translations

Checking automatic translations before publishing is a required step in the SimDif workflow to ensure site quality.

#### To review translations:

• Click on any text in a translated language version to edit or approve the translation.
• Tap "Publish" and follow the mandatory Checklist items.
• Access the Checklist icon located to the right of the "Publish" button to review each item.

During this process, you can use Kai Writer for Multilingual Sites (a specialized version of the Kai AI assistant) to refine translations block-by-block or adjust the tone for cultural nuances.

#### Publishing:

Once you have approved the translations, you must hit the "Publish" button for each individual language.
